Amarillo voters said approved the Amarillo College Bond issue and the new taxes that go with it. The approval of AC Prop 1 will allow Amarillo College to acquire, renovate, and equip new buildings.
A similar proposal for Bushland ISD was voted down-with around a %60 margin Against.
Other local issues:
To allow alcohol sales in Childress County- it won by only 2 votes!
And in Groom, voters approved a $500,00 bond measure.
And the City of Pampa approved a measure that would allow local firefighters to unionize.
Across Texas voters approved:
A Constitutional Amendment approving the creation of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.
Authorizing the denial of bail to a person who violates certain court orders or conditions of release in a felony or family violence case.
Authorizing the legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation one motor vehicle owned by an individual and used in the course of the owner's occupation or profession and also for personal activities of the owner.
And, sadly, to; Abolish the constitutional authority for the office of inspector of hides and animals. -I'm sure we're all going to miss that one.

This is an original script by playwright Sirc Michaels, based on the classic works of Marlowe and Goethe.
The Amarillo Repertory Theatre is focused on working with performing artists here in Amarillo and abroad to create a home for alternative arts here in the Texas Panhandle, as well as a center for producing new works by Panhandle playwrights.
‘FAUST’ is the classic story about a man who sells his soul to the devil for a chance to relive his youth – only to realize the folly of his actions all too late. The show will be presented at The Amarillo Repertory Theatre, located at Sunset Center on Plains Blvd, on Halloween night at 8pm. The show will also run the first two weekends of November, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm. Admission is. There are also discounts for group rates. Tickets are available now at The Music Box, Outstanding Amarillo, or can be purchased at the box office on the days of the show.
