Voters Say Yes To AC- No to Bushland

Amarillo voters said approved the Amarillo College Bond  issue and the new taxes that go with it. The approval of AC Prop 1 will allow Amarillo College to acquire, renovate, and equip new buildings.

A similar proposal for Bushland ISD was voted down-with around a %60 margin Against.

Other local issues:

To allow alcohol sales in Childress County- it won by only 2 votes!

And in Groom, voters approved  a $500,00 bond measure.

And the City of Pampa approved a measure that would allow local firefighters to unionize.

Across Texas voters approved:

A Constitutional Amendment approving the creation of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

Authorizing the denial of bail to a person who violates certain court orders or conditions of release in a felony or family violence case.

Authorizing the legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation one motor vehicle owned by an individual and used in the course of the owner's occupation or profession and also for personal activities of the owner.

And, sadly, to; Abolish the constitutional authority for the office of inspector of hides and animals. -I'm sure we're all going to miss that one.
